In a blog post on Wednesday, Facebook’s director of product management, Chris Cox, outlined his company’s plans to clean up its platform.
Among other things, Cox said that Facebook will ban accounts and pages that are “spreading misinformation or engaging in coordinated disinformation campaigns.” Additionally, the company will disable dynamic ad serving on Pages that have been suspended or removed for breaking community guidelines.
Cox went on to say that fake news is an “issue” that needs to be addressed by all social media platforms. “We can’t solve this problem by just focusing on Facebook,” he wrote. “We need to work together with others in the industry to find solutions.”
